anyone use fluidized sand filters, i use fb 300 made by lifegaurd and its great for bio bed, it never needs cleaning and for a filter that will run a tank up to 300 gallon its only about 5o bucks.

And how large of a tank can they work up to? That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, i'll have to check it out. And you say you don't have to clean it?

fb 300 will filter a 300 gallon tank, and so long as you dont get something really nasty in the filter you never need to clean them water flows right through no floss or pads just sand, i have had one running for 5 years or more and have never cleaned it or changed the sand.

Are these the same thing as a "revers UG" or "fluidized bed" filter? If so I will have to pick one up as a secondary filter to run with the canister filter on my 55 malawi tank.
