Finally after waiting three weeks for the chance to go to burnco and pick up some slate, we were able to today. Nice thing is, we showed it to the girl who helped us and she let us take it home for free What a great deal that was, I guess sometimes it pays off to wait a while I will finally get some nice pictures of the african set up once we change things around.

So I picked up a 10 gallon tank by itself today from petsmart. It fits nicely in the same stand under the 45 gallon. I had an aquaclear 20 that I had on one of the 90 gallons, so I took it off and put it on that tank. I also used some leftover sand from the substrate change. And I had a small heater kicking around, which is better than nothing. Right now I have my paradise fish in it to help cycle it faster, but I also used some tank water from the 45 gallon to fill it partially. I will most ...

I have a bunch of styrofoam egg cartons (can i line them up along the bottom ?)

I have ribbed fiberglass sheets for around the barns. Can i cut them to fit and line the bottom . Any toxic issues ? They were weathered outdoors ...

Hi all-

Just picked me up a Marineland Magnum 350. It was a breeze to install, but the whole charcoal thing I dont think I am all that keen on yet.

I also bought a API test kit-pH low, pH hi, Ammonia, Nitrates, and Nitrite. It works better that the "dip and look" all in one strip by tetra(blah). I didnt think I was getting a specific enough reading by color, so I went with the API set up. I figured with a newly setup tank, that I should monitor it close and more specific.

Ok guys, I just picked up my new 45 gallon today from a guy out of town It was well worth the drive. It came with the stand, light, glass tops, aquaclear 500, and the tank which measures 48"Lx12"Wx18"D. Now all I have to do is figure out which fish of ours I will be putting in it. Any ideas anyone? I am sure many of you already know just about all the fish we have, but if you need me to name them all, I will

I would rather not have it down in my basement. My kithchen dining and living space is quite large upstairs and ceramic tile on floor with the kitchen sink built in an island ...

In my 55g, I have about 2-3 inches of substrate(as described above). I was thinking of a Marineland C-220 or C-360. Does anybody have any experience with them? I've heard they are great filters, but whats the flow rate like and how much bypass is there? Thanks

What types of filters does everyone use?

I have a wide range, FX5 + XP3 on a 125. AC110 on a 55, Emp 400 on a 30, emp 280 on a 30, mag 350 on a 40, cheap 20 gal size filter + sponge filter in 15l, penguin 350 on a 20, and small filters and sponges on the rest.

I really like the AC110, and the canisters, the mag 350 is my least favorite of the canisters. I like the easy baskets in the xp3 and fx5, the bulk of the fx5 is one of the only things I do not like about it + the hoses.
