Howdy Folks!!!
Hi, I was a member of the African Cichlids Resource Forums in the early 2000's. I just setup a tank after 5 yrs out of the hobby. I moved from AR to WV 5yrs ago and just couldn't move all my fish. I recently finished building my own house and now I'm ready to get back into the hobby. Please note, I was out of the hobby because of circumstance, not because I chose to be. I still miss the fish I had back in AR and wish I still had them..... was hard leaving them behind. My first love is Mbuna's, right now I have a 55g up and running with 13 Cyphotilapia Gibberosa Moba fry in it, I know these are "Fronts" from Lake Tang but I got a deal I couldn't pass up. I have several ideas for Mbuna setups. I would really like to get some wildcaught P. Flavus, these are found at Chinyankwazi Island (Southern End of Malawi). Unfortunately this Island lies inside the boundaries of Malawi National Park and collecting fish is illegal there, however it still happens and I've found an importer that says he can get em. I don't think the Flavus tank and pond raised fishes in the hobby right now are as attractive as they should be, probably to far removed from the lake and hybridization issues etc. Anyhow, I have several other ideas for Mbuna breeding setups and am planning on setting up a fish room in the basement this coming spring. The Mbuna's that I had in AR were:
Metriaclima Greshakei
Cynotilapia Afra
Melanochromis Johanni
I'm glad I found this forum and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and talkin Mbuna.
